Step Three: The Follow-Through
The last part of the shot is the follow through. It is sometimes explained as "making a goose neck" or coaches often tell kids to "Reach in the cookie jar on a high shelf". For this stage, you shooting arm is still straight and the wrist is flexed from the shot - angled down. This followthrough gives the shot direction and specifically the height or "arc". As you can see the player on the left is in the Follow-Through stage. He has released the ball and is holding his shot for form and to give the ball the proper direction.
